I fondly remember those early days of the Internet as gains in productivity, a general outlook that liberty would flourish as the masses accessed more information, and freedom lovers could communicate across large geographical areas. I now feel that I was looking through the naïve rose-colored lenses of youth. The PTB would never willingly allow political and/or economic power to be distributed horizontally and will do anything to maintain their position at the top of the pyramid, a vertical hierarchy with a few at the top and many at the bottom.
